Not by blood, nor yet by blade

The oath of brotherhood we took;

The promise to fight and die by each other;

To drink together as brothers will;

The promise of always and forever.

Then came a maiden so fair;

Love and lust revealed in flesh;

The devil’s agenda she brought with her;

To throw in shambles the promise of always and forever.

The same blood now course through our veins;

My love for you gave up the maiden;

My lust for her fueled my betrayal;

I took her away from you;

Treachery seemed easy – all for a maiden so fair.

Still,

We were blood brothers.

Time passed;

Then came the Great War;

Together once more we went into the fray;

The heated battle led us behind enemy lines;

When I saw in your eyes – the fire of vengeance.

We always had each other’s backs;

Till the dark day when you struck me;

Revenge seemed easy – all for a maiden so fair.

Twas not by blood, nor yet by blade;

But by love…and lust.
